Sweeney Todd (Johnny Depp) returns to London after having escaped a wrongful imprisonment, only to find that his wife and child have suffered at the hands of Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman), the very man who imprisoned him. With the help of his former landlady, Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter), Sweeney Todd launches a plan for vengeance that initially targets the individuals responsible for his misfortunes, but ultimately draws all society in his sights. He dies painfully in the end.

Production:
In August 2006, DreamWorks announced that Tim Burton had taken over direction for the film, and Johnny Depp was cast as Todd.
Filming began on February 5, 2007 at Pinewood Studios, but was interrupted due to Depp's daughter falling ill; filming resumed in late March.
Christopher Lee, Anthony Head, Peter Bowles and 5 other actors were originally cast as ghost narrators set to sing "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd". However, due to the ailing of Johnny Depp's daughter, the schedule became tight and the characters were dropped from the film.
