Be Kind Rewind is an upcoming 2008 comedy film directed by Michel Gondry and starring Jack Black, Mos Def, Danny Glover, and Mia Farrow.
Jerry (Jack Black) is a junkyard worker who attempts to sabotage a power plant that he believes is melting his brain. But when his plan goes awry, the magnetic field that he creates accidentally erases all of the videotapes in a local video store where his best friend Mike (Mos Def) works. Fearing that the mishap will cost Mike his job, the two friends team up to keep the store's only loyal customer, a little old lady with a tenuous grasp on reality (Mia Farrow) from realizing what has happened by recreating and re-filming every movie that she decides to rent. From Ghostbusters, Driving Miss Daisy, RoboCop, Rush Hour 2, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Boyz n the Hood, and The Lion King. Jerry and Mike become the biggest stars in their neighborhood by starring in the biggest movies ever made.
‘Sweding’ is a neologism first coined in Be Kind Rewind that describes the practice of re-creating something from scratch using commonly available, everyday materials and technology. Items that are ‘Sweded’ look distinctively homemade, often bearing only the slightest resemblance to the original. While naively rendered, ‘Sweded’ items are usually charming and highly amusing.
In Be Kind Rewind the major characters Jerry (played by comedian Jack Black) and Mike (played by Mos Def) attempt to re-create classic movies including Ghostbusters after they accidentally erase video copies of the originals.
The "Sweded" films are amateurishly re-enacted and videoed by the pair who attempt to pass them off as the actual films. While incomplete renderings of the originals, the resulting Sweded films become tremendously popular with the store’s customers earning Jerry and Mike some celebrity.

Meaning of the term Sweding
In Be Kind Rewind, Jerry suggests that their ‘customised’ videos are imported from Sweden (partly to justify their longer wait periods and higher rental costs). From that point on the term ‘Sweding’ is used to describe the process of remaking movies from scratch.
