Lisa Snowdon (born Lisa Snawdon on
September 2, 1971) is an English actress, supermodel,
television presenter and singer.
Born in Welwyn Garden City, England, Snowdon lives in
Epping Forest. She moved to London to attend the Italia
Conti School of Performing Arts. Snowdon went to school
with friend and supermodel Naomi Campbell, and worked
briefly as a waitress. She was spotted by a Premier
Model Management agent at age 19 while dancing in a
London nightclub.
Snowdon began modelling for cover shots with Marie
Claire, Vogue etc, which lead to her becoming a full
time fashion model. In turn, fashion modelling lead to
her becoming a more recognised model and doing fashion
campaigns and spreads for Vogue, Marie Claire and
Cosmopolitan. Then Snowdon attracted major attention
appearing in an advertisement for Special K cereal.
Now she is best known for her commercial
and lingerie modelling, and went on to be the
"elevator girl" for Lynx deodorant in 2003,
and doing advertisements for Mercedes-Benz, Martini,
Dove soap, Neutrogena and numerous high-fashion
catalogues. Her high profile modelling career led to
appearances in just about every single men's magazine,
including Maxim, Arena, Loaded, Sky and GQ. She has
featured on FHM's List of 100 Sexiest Women every year
between 1996 and 2005 except for 1998.
A 1997 album Spell It Out failed to sell, and a starring
role in Channel 4's short film Man's Best Friend did not
perform much better. However, Snowdon's look has made
her an eye-catching presenter, including FightBox on BBC
Three with Trevor Nelson, MTV UK's Select, Top of the
Pops, The Big Breakfast, BBC Radio 1's One Big Sunday,
Miss World 2004, GMTV, Spring Break Live, V2003, CD:UK,
LA Pool party and various ITV Movie premiere shows.
She has taken over from Lisa Butcher as
the main judge and presenter on the second series of
Britain's Next Top Model which is a contest to find
Britain's next supermodel to rival the likes of herself
and others such as Kate Moss.
When presenting "Lisa Snowdon's All Access"
for VH1, she often appeared in her bare feet. She is
also the face of a "Taxiwise" safety campaign
and After Eight mint straws. In 2007 she was announced
as the new co-presenter of Through the Keyhole with Sir
David Frost.
In June 2007 she guest presented on the BBC's Sunday
morning show Something For The Weekend, whilst regular
presenter Amanda Hamilton was on holiday for 2 weeks.
On August 20, 2007 she guest presented on Channel 4's
tea time show Richard & Judy along with star of
Little Britain, David Walliams, whilst regular
presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan were away
at the funeral of Manchester icon Tony Wilson.
In 2005 Snowdon became an ambassador for the breast
cancer care charity. She is also well known for being
the former girlfriend of George Clooney. |
