Jaime Lynn Pressly (born July 30, 1977)
is an Emmy Award-nominated American actress and model.
She currently plays Joy on the NBC sitcom My Name Is
Earl.
Career: Pressly starred as "Violet" in
the 1997 film Poison Ivy: The New Seduction. In 1998 she
played a recurring role as the assassin Mika in the TV
action series Mortal Kombat: Conquest. In 1999, Pressly
was cast as the promiscuous dancer "Audrey" on
the television show Jack & Jill.
Pressly starred in the independent film Poor White
Trash, playing scheming gold-digger Sandy Lake. She
subsequently appeared in a number of widely released
films, including Not Another Teen Movie (playing a
stereotypical high school cheerleader) and Torque, as a
crazed motorcycle-riding criminal.
In 2001 she was made the new spokesmodel for Liz
Claiborne Cosmetics and its fragrance Lucky You. Pressly
has posed nude for the March 1998 and February 2004
issues of Playboy. She has performed with the band The
Pussycat Dolls. In 2002, she was ranked #8 in Stuff
magazine's "102 Sexiest Women in the World".
In 2003, she launched a lingerie line,
J'Aime, which has now become a full sleepwear and
ready-to-wear line. In 2006, Maxim magazine named her
#34 on its annual list; she is also featured in their
gallery. She also appeared nude in the May 2006 issue of
Allure.
She also appeared in a number of music videos, including
Girls of Summer by Aerosmith and a cover of Tainted Love
by Marilyn Manson.
In 2006, Pressly was an honorary captain for Minor
League Baseball's Carolina League in the California
League/Carolina League All-star game in Rancho
Cucamonga, California. Her hometown team, the Kinston
Indians, is a member of the Carolina League. On May 31,
2006 she hosted the first annual VH1 Rock Honors.
Pressly currently appears on the hit NBC sitcom My Name
Is Earl as Joy. In July 2006, she received an Emmy
nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a
Comedy Series for her work on the show. Lately, Pressly
plays the role of Tina Armstrong, in the movie based on
the popular video game, DOA: Dead or Alive.
She hosted the October 7, 2006 episode of Saturday Night
Live with musical guest Corinne Bailey Rae. Prior to
this, she guest starred on an episode of MADtv from
season eleven, where she played Hillary Clinton in a
parody of the NBC sitcom, "My Name Is Earl"
called "My Name Is Dubya", where George W.
Bush (Frank Caliendo) makes a list of all the bad things
he's done in the past and rectifies them one by one (one
of which was to lie to Hillary Clinton about his
political beliefs so he can have sex with her). She also
guest starred in an episode of the WB series Charmed,
playing Milley, a mermaid trying to find love.
It may surprise fans to learn that former
tomboy-turned-sex symbol Jaime Pressly is actually
pretty old-fashioned given her numerous provocative film
roles and a revealing layout in Playboy magazine.
It's no secret that Pressly shudders at the idea of
going in front of the cameras for a love scene, and even
considers onscreen kissing a little too intimate for
comfort.
Born in Kinston, NC, in July of 1977, young Pressly
studied dance and gymnastics for 11 years before taking
a turn as a model in the U.S., Italy, and Japan.
Following an appearance on the cover of Teen magazine,
Pressly began to gain momentum in the modeling world,
and it seemed inevitable that she would soon make the
leap to celluloid.
Legally emancipated from her parents at the age of 15,
Pressly made her feature debut as a teenage seductress
in Poison Ivy: The New Seduction (she was offered the
role after appearing as Drew Barrymore's body double in
the original Poison Ivy [1992]), and went on to appear
in such features as Can't Hardly Wait, Ringmaster (both
1998), and Poor White Trash (2000).
On the small screen, Pressly made a big impression as a
promiscuous dancer in the series Jack and Jill, and has
made appearances on Hollywood Squares. In 1998, Pressly
was married to Brodie Mitchell, resulting in a
collective sigh of disappointment among her legions of
male admirers, who have constructed countless Internet
shrines to the toothsome actress.
Increasingly in demand into the new millennium, Pressly
appeared in such features as Tomcats, Joe Dirt, and Not
Another Teen Movie (all 2001), as well as becoming the
spokeswoman for Liz Claiborne's Lucky You fragrance. ~

Jaime's first real taste of success came in 1999, when
she was cast as the promiscuous dancer Audrey on the
television show, Jack and Jill.
In 2001 she was made the new spokesmodel for Liz
Claiborne Cosmetics and its fragrance Lucky You.
Outside of acting, Pressly has posed nude for the March
1998 and February 2004 issues of Playboy and performed
with The Pussycat Dolls.
One persistent rumor is that Pressly married a man named
Brodie Mitchell in 1998. Pressly, who has never married,
has stated she has heard of Mitchell but does not know
him. Mitchell apparently has made enough claims about
being married to Pressly that some sources have reported
it as fact.
Personal life: Pressly was born in Kinston, North
Carolina to James Liston Pressly and Brenda Sue Smith.
She has a sister, Jessie Pressly and a brother, Jim
Pressly. Pressly spent 11 years studying gymnastics and
dancing.
By the time she was 14, she was already the spokeswoman
for her modeling agency, "International Cover Model
Search", and she had begun to gain recognition for
her modeling in the USA, as well as in Italy and Japan.
Pressly attended Costa Mesa High School in California,
where her mother had moved while her parents were going
through the process of a divorce. Jaime subsequently
sought and succeeded to have herself legally emancipated
from her parents at the age of 15.
One persistent rumor is that Pressly married a man named
Brodie Mitchell in 1998. Pressly, who has never married,
has stated she has heard of Mitchell but does not know
him. Mitchell apparently has made enough claims about
being married to Pressly that some sources have reported
it as fact.
Pressly dated her Jack and Jill co-star Simon Rex in
2000 and 2001. In a December, 2001 interview with Howard
Stern (the same notorious interview in which she said
that he looked liked he got "slapped [with] a
yarmulke"), she claimed that Rex "dumped me on
my birthday." She was later linked to Carson Daly.
In October 2006, she became engaged to her boyfriend of
a year and a half, DJ Eric Calvo (aka DJ Eric Cubiche),
whom she had previously been friends with for 9 years.
Jamie gave birth on May 11, 2007 at 7:31am in
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to their first child, Dezi
James Calvo. Dezi weighed 6 lbs, 4 oz, and was 18 1/2
inches long. In a February 2007 interview on The Tonight
Show With Jay Leno, Pressly said she wants the child to
be bilingual (English/Spanish) to reflect Calvo's Cuban
heritage. The child is treated to music from Pressly's
iPod, played through earphones held to her tummy.
Pressly said in a 2006 interview with Esquire magazine
that she almost purchased a ticket on one of the planes
that crashed into the World Trade Center on September
11, 2001, but decided not to take the flight because she
felt it left too early in the morning. She said she
doesn't like to talk about it. |
