Jackie Suzanne Gayda-Haas (November 3,
1981 in Strongsville, Ohio) is an American professional
wrestler and valet, currently working for Total Nonstop
Action Wrestling, and formerly working for the
SmackDown! brand of World Wrestling Entertainment. She
was awarded a contract with WWE after winning the second
series of the reality television show Tough Enough.
World Wrestling Entertainment:
2002-2003: As soon as Gayda was awarded the
contract, she worked several matches on the RAW and
SmackDown! brands. On the July 7, 2002 edition of RAW,
she participated in what is considered one of the worst
matches ever, a mixed tag match with her and Christopher
Nowinski going up against Trish Stratus and Bradshaw. In
this match, she botched many moves, including not taking
Stratus' High Bulldog but still selling it as the end of
the match. The match revealed her inexperience in the
ring in front of a live Philadelphia audience and
television viewers as well and has grown to be
considered one of the worst matches in the history of
Raw. As a result of her performance in this match, she
was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling for further training.
Gayda later stated in a shoot interview that the match
had changed several times throughout the day and that
the only direction she was given was to jump on
Bradshaw's back. While in OVW, she joined the faction
known as "The Revolution", in addition to
managing The Basham Brothers and Chris Kanyon. She
eventually returned to WWE as Miss Jackie, managing
Rico.
2004: In early 2004, Gayda teamed up with Stacy
Keibler, with the duo proclaiming themselves to be the
WWE's hottest divas. This provoked a feud with
SmackDown! divas Sable and Torrie Wilson. During this
feud, Gayda and Keibler would use their wiles and
assisted Rico in gaining victories over Sylvan Grenier
and Rob Conway in singles matches. At WrestleMania XX,
Gayda and Keibler were defeated by Sable and Wilson in
an evening gown match. Torrie humiliated Jackie by
pinning her and attempting to remove her panties (which
revealed her thong) and slapping her buttocks.
In the second WWE Draft, Gayda and Rico were traded to
SmackDown! brand, where they eventually teamed up with
Charlie Haas. In September 2004, Haas and Gayda were
engaged; their relationship was eventually incorporated
into their on-screen characters. Dawn Marie announced
the engagement of Gayda and Haas on the September 30,
2004 episode of SmackDown!, implying in the process that
she and Haas were "more than just friends."
This lead to a catfight between Gayda and Dawn, which in
turn led to an intergender tag match at No Mercy 2004
pitting Gayda, Haas and Rico against Dawn and The Dudley
Boyz. Gayda's team won the bout, yet Dawn Marie
predicted that the relationship would not last very
long.
From that moment onwards, Dawn Marie tried her hardest
to split the couple up. On the October 7, 2004 episode
of SmackDown!, Gayda found herself on the receiving end
of Billy Kidman's BK Bomb. She sold her injuries through
the October tour of Europe by wearing a neckbrace, only
returning to action on the October 28, 2004 episode of
SmackDown!, which saw Gayda hit the ring during a
Halloween costume contest between Dawn and Torrie
Wilson, spearing Dawn and tearing the clothes from her
body. A vengeful Dawn then screamed to Gayda that it was
not over.
Dawn gained her revenge during an arm wrestling contest
on the November 4, 2004 episode of SmackDown!,
headbutting Gayda and catfighting with her until Haas
made the save. Dawn's ally Heidenreich then decimated
Haas, dismissing Gayda's attempts to protect Haas by
shoving her to the mat. On November 25, 2004, Gayda
would try and gain revenge in a "pilgrim versus
Indian" match, but both women were disqualified for
ignoring the referee's instructions. The two divas would
catfight once again on December 2, 2004, this time while
wearing Christmas outfits. General Manager Theodore Long
finally announced a final encounter at Armageddon 2004,
appointing Haas as referee. Gayda lost the match, and
her fianceé too, as the relationship was broken when
Haas revealed he had an affair with Dawn Marie. He then
rejected Marie afterwards, saying he did not want either
woman.
2005: Following her on-screen separation from
Haas, and with Rico released several months beforehand,
Gayda began wrestling as a singles performer. She
appeared in numerous vignettes with the other divas
until she and Haas were released from WWE on July 6,
2005, along with many other WWE wrestlers.
Independent circuit: Gayda has since worked for
several independent promotions, including Ballpark Brawl
- where Gayda was referred to as Just Jackie, and
defeated Traci Brooks, Nattie Neidhart, Jamie D and
April Hunter on August 13, 2005, in addition to teaming
with Hunter in a loss to Neidhart on August 14, 2005 -
and Women's Extreme Wrestling - where she debuted
against Passion in a ten minute match. Gayda accompanied
Charlie Haas to ringside on August 27, 2005, in his
debut in the NWA Universal promotion. On September 10,
2005, for Jersey All Pro Wrestling, Gayda battled Alicia
in women's action. The match ended with Gayda winning by
disqualification when April Hunter interfered. Sunny was
the special guest referee.
On October 26, Gayda accompanied her
husband Charlie Haas (to victory) to the ring for his
match against Ekmo, who was accompanied by Nidia. After
the match, which Charlie won, Jackie and Nidia came to
scraps, ending with Jackie getting Ekmo's Top Rope
Splash applied on her. This appearance was for
Nu-Wrestling Evolution, a company in Italy. She defeated
Nidia in a singles match (with Ekmo as special guest
referee) on the 29th. On December 3, she defeated Alicia
at a JAPW event.
In October 2005, the book entitled Divas Uncovered (a
book that went behind the scenes with the divas, much
like WWE Unscripted) was released. Gayda, who was
previously on the cover, was still featured in the book,
despite her release.
In April 2006, Jackie took part in a wrestling show
called "Hog-A-Mania". The event was by Ward
Family Promotions, now known mostly as TNT Pro
Wrestling. Lollipop and Pitbull Patterson along with
Jackie as their manager defeated Traci Brooks and Short
Sleeve Sampson.
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling: On November 3,
2005, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling announced that they
had signed Gayda to a contract.
On the November 26, 2005 edition of iMPACT, Gayda made
her debut lashing out at Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett was
shocked and frightened by Gayda's unexpected appearance
and soon ordered her backstage. He was heard saying,
"It's not what you think." After being pushed
by Jarrett, Gayda slapped him and then went after his
valet, Gail Kim. The following week, Gayda came out
again to confront Jarrett. After pushing and slapping,
the two had to be pulled apart by officials. At TNA
Turning Point, the same thing happened in the main event
match. However, Jackie was restrained by officials. On
the December 31 show, Don West tracked down Jackie for
an interview. She said her being there had nothing to do
with a love affair, but rather that Jarrett had promised
her a spot on the TNA Roster, but while she was stuck at
home, she turned on the television to see Gail Kim in
her place. She said she had a big secret about Jarrett
that TNA Management would love to hear, but didn't
reveal what it was.
Jackie won TNA's Knockout of the Year 2005 on the
January 14, 2006 edition of iMPACT, as well as making an
appearance in an interview, where she told Shane Douglas
that the whole situation was none of his business.
D'Amore appeared and told her she was blowing the whole
thing out of proportion and her list of demands given to
Jarrett last week were outrageous. At TNA Final
Resolution, she ran into Raven after he lost his match.
She told him that they had something in common, they
were both being screwed by TNA Management. On the
January 28, 2006 edition of iMPACT, Jackie came down to
ringside during a Jarrett vs. Lethal match, to hand an
audio tape to Gail Kim. She then left, a confused Gail
soon following. It is unknown what is on the tape thus
far.
Jarrett then hired Alex Shelley to video tape Jackie at
her home, for blackmail. Shelley complied, returning a
week later with a videotape and calling Gayda a
"kinky dame", which earned him a slap at TNA
Against All Odds. On the February 18, 2006 edition of
iMPACT, she told Jeff Jarrett that he had won, that she
would leave. Jarrett refused to comply and used the tape
Shelley compiled of Gayda as blackmail to get her to
join his stable. Gail commented on the situation, saying
this would be "a lot of fun." Now, Jackie had
to go everywhere Jarrett's stable goes - interviews,
promos and she even has to manage them in the ring. She
managed to get her own measure of revenge on Gail at TNA
Destination X, by setting her up for a devastating
legdrop, delivered by Ron Killings. Abyss tried to
Chokeslam her shortly after, but she managed to escape.
On the April 1, 2006 edition of iMPACT, Gail Kim spilled
beer on her as she went to collect America's Most
Wanted's ring-coats. This led to her tripping him up
during his match, which led to Gail Kim slapping Jackie
in the face. The next time they were out there, the two
got into a "slapfest" again.
At TNA Lockdown, Jackie pulled Gail off the cage and
ripped off her skirt, leading to her running away in
embarrassment. For several weeks following this on
iMPACT Jackie would be seen being very emotional and
crying all the time. At TNA Sacrifice, Jackie announced
that she was pregnant, so Kim (kayfabe) fired her.
Personal life: Gayda's musical instrument of
choice is the flute and her sport of choice is track and
field (she became a sports enthusiast at a young age),
which later led to her becoming an All-Ohio athlete at
Strongsville High School. She was also a student at the
University of Toledo majoring in broadcast and
journalism before entering professional wrestling. Gayda
also worked at Cedar Point for two summers while in
collage. She is the oldest of four children.
On June 10, 2005, Jackie Gayda married wrestler Charlie
Haas. The best man was Shelton Benjamin while her
bridesmaids were Victoria and Dawn Marie, whom she cites
as two of her best friends.
It was announced in May 5, 2006 on WWE.com that Jackie
and her husband Charlie Haas were expecting their first
child. On December 14, 2006 at 3:01am, Jackie gave birth
to her first child, Kayla Jacquelyn Haas. She was taken
off television at the TNA Sacrifice pay-per-view, but
was spotted backstage at the TNA Victory Road
pay-per-view visiting friends. She was recently seen
backstage at WWE's Royal Rumble 2007, visiting Charlie.
Trivia:
- Her first WWE theme music was called "Hot and
Tough", followed by "Hey Purple Mary"
which were both production themes licensed by WWE.
She used the song "Shake ya tailfeathers"
by P.Diddy, Nelly, and Murphy Lee in NWE.
- She attended the funeral of Eddie Guerrero with
her husband Charlie Haas.
